Children's Care, Learning & Development NVQ Level 3 Number of Weeks 34 Hours per Week 3 Who is the programme for? This programme is aimed towards those who wish to have their experience of working in a child care setting formally recognised. How long does it take to complete? This qualification will take 1 year to achieve dep What qualifications do I need? What is the programme structure? National Vocational Qualifications are work related qualifications which are based on your ability to do a particular job to a certain standard. They provide evidence of skills and experience to a potential employer. To achieve an NVQ you must demonstrate your knowledge and skills to an assessor. A range of modules are assessed including subjects such as Equality and Diversity, Food and Nutrition, Personal Hygiene, Caring Skills, Emotional Development. The knowledge base required for the course is delivered one evening per week in an informal, relaxed classroom setting and this is supported by visits by an assessor to your usual place of work. What qualifications do I need? No formal qualifications are required but you must currently be working in a child care setting (paid or voluntary). It is usual that you will have at least six months experience of this type of work prior to joining the course. An informal interview with the course tutor will provide you with further information and support prior to enrolment. NVQ 2 qualification would be advantageous. Prior learning will be taken into account. A letter from your employer confirming your position and duties will be required. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
