Children's Care Learning and Development Advanced Apprenticeship Level: Level 3 Part-time How long is the coursetraining? This is a two-year course. What will I be doing on the coursetraining? The Advanced Apprenticeship in Children's Care, Learning and Development offers an in-depth, practical approach and a solid platform for anyone wishing to develop a career in face-to-face roles with children and families. As an Advanced Apprentice you will need to be employed for a minimum of 16 hours and attend college for up to one day a week throughout the programme. You will work towards a framework of qualifications, which make up the Advanced Apprenticeship. The Advanced Apprenticeship consists of: NVQ Level 3: The NVQ shows your competence, knowledge, and understanding of caring for children aged from birth to 16 years. You will cover the following units: Develop and promote positive relationships Develop and maintain safe environments Promote children's development Reflect on and develop own practice Protect and promote children's rights You will then choose 4 optional units suited to your job role. You will also complete a Paediatric First Aid Qualification, a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and training in Manual Handling, Health and Safety and Nutrition and Healthy Eating. Technical Certificate: This is the theory and underpinning knowledge you require within your job. The qualification is called the Level 3 Certificate in Children's Care Learning and Development. You will also complete the Employment Rights and Responsibilities workbook to ensure you are aware of your legal status as an employee. CourseTraining Code: To be confirmed Where do I studytrain? Hele Building What are the entry requirements? You will need patience, understanding, good communication skills and a strong desire to work with children. You will also be required to complete a criminal records bureau check for your employer. What can I do after this coursetraining? This course will allow you to continue to develop your career directly in the workplace and provides an excellent way to qualify as a Senior Childcare Practitioner in line with the National Minimum Care Standards and OFSTED requirements. What key skills will I do? You will do key skills in Application of Number and Communication at level 2. If you have achieved GCSE grades A to C you may be exempt this part of the framework. What residentialwork experience is there? You must be in employment within a childcare environment. What faculty is the coursetraining in? Health, Care and Public Services How to Apply? Get an application form through school, Connexions or by contacting the college. For more information refer to the 'How to Apply' page. How do I study the coursetraining and how will I be assessed? On your college day-release, you will be taught by your Tutor or Training Officer. You will spend the remainder of the week in the workplace where you will put your new skills into practice. Whilst at work, your Training Officer will visit you and carry out assessment and will also help you build your portfolio of evidence for your NVQ. What facilities are there? You will have access to a learning resource centre. There is a refectory in the Hele Building. What will the coursetraining cost me? Currently there are no training fees or employer contributions for Apprentices that are eligible for government funding. Additional costs: You may incur some cost for textbooks required for the course. However you may find your employer has suitable text, or that you can borrow them from the college library.
