Type: Part Time Children's Care Learning and Development Part Time Length: 1 year Location: Darlington College Academic Year: 201011 CRB Check required Costs Course Cost* (pa) ?620.00 Registration Fee: ?TBC Additional Costs (apr) ?20.00 Course Overview This course will allow you to gain a qualification in caring for children aged 0 to 16 years in a range of settings. It is available for those candidates who work or wish to work with children in different child care settings. Aim of this course The National standards include units on: Contribute to positive relationships. Help to keep children safe. Support children's development. Use support to develop own practice in children's care, learning and development. Prepare and maintain environments to meet children's needs. Support children's play and learning. Contribute to the effectiveness of teams. Support the development of babies and children under 3 years. Support a child with disabilities or special educational needs. Support children and young people's play. What are the entry requirements? The minimum age of entry is usually 18 years of age and you should be working or in voluntary position, within a child care setting. Students selected will be at the discretion of the Programme Leader with receipt of 2 references, one of the references must be from a current employer or from a manager at your placement, and a clear CRB. You must work in a child care setting for a minimum of 6 to10 hours per week. All applicants will be interviewed. How will I learn? This is a teaching and workshop based course. When will I be expected to be in college? Attendance is on a Tuesday 4.45pm- 9.00pm. Students will be expected to complete 6-10 hours per week additional home study. How will I be assessed? Examining body: C>EMPBR A Record of Assessment will show competence in the workplace supported by a Portfolio of Evidence of UKU. Competence in the work place will be assessed in as natural a setting as possible by a person who is relevantly qualified andor experienced in the setting in which they are to assess. No written paper examination is set. The portfolio of Evidence will be a collection of assignments written or visual materials. What if I need support? The College provides a safe and up-to-date working environment with many sources of information available in resource-based learning centres. Where possible, we will provide additional learning support as you need it and discuss your progress through tutorials. Further study Successful completion of this course may give progression to higher level qualification, e.g. NVQ Level 3, Part-time or Full- time CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare & Education. Career progression Employment working with children aged from 0 to 16 years of age. *The tuition fee is free if you are 16-18 years of age on August 31 of the calendar year in which you begin your studies. If you are 19 or over tuition fees will apply. Help may be available with fees, please ask. Government funding may be available through apprenticeship or train to gain schemes.
