Aim of this course Work effectively and safely in an engineering environment Engineering principles and practice Principles of Fabrication and Welding Manual metal arc welding Metal inert gas welding Thick plate work Course modules What are the entry requirements? City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Engineering 2800 OR Alternative approved programme of study OR Previous industrial experience which is relevant to the aims of the scheme. How will I learn? Classes are a mixture of Tutor led theory sessions, practical workshops and tutorials. It is recommended that students allow around 2-3 hours per week for homework. When will I be expected to be in college? Attendance is Monday 9am- 6.15pm How will I be assessed? Examining body: C>EMPBR City and Guilds set and marked written tests City and Guilds centre set written assessments Assignments marked by the centre What if I need support? The College provides a safe and up-to-date working environment with many sources of information available in resource-based learning centres. Where possible, we will provide additional learning support as you need it and discuss your progress through tutorials. Further study Progression to higher levels of study. Career progression This can lead to employment opportunities in relevant industrial activities. *The tuition fee is free if you are 16-18 years of age on August 31 of the calendar year in which you begin your studies. If you are 19 or over tuition fees will apply. Help may be available with fees, please ask. Government funding may be available through apprenticeship or train to gain schemes.
