Caring for Reptiles and Other Exotic Species Level: 1 Location: BH Years: 1 Course Summary A one-day course aimed at both the new or experienced reptile keeper. You will look at housing, husbandry, feeding and will have a go at handling the reptiles and amphibians in the College's animal centre. How will I be assessed? There is no formal assessment on this course. How much time will I spend on the course? 6 hours. How is the course delivered? Course delivery will be through lecture, discussion and practical work. Who is this course suitable for? Anyone who is considering getting an exotic animal as a pet, who works with or already has exotics and would like to know a little more about correct husbandry. What are mandatory modules or units? NA What materials do I have to provide? Bring pen and paper on the day. Wear sensible footwear and old clothes for the practical session. Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? No What can I do after this course? First Diploma in Animal Care (subject to entry requirements) and National Diploma in Animal Management (subject to entry requirements). Derby College offers a range of short, evening, weekend and day-release courses relating to animals and animal care such as an introduction to falconry, dog and puppy training, agility, grooming, dog and cat psychology, farm livestock and horses.
