BTEC First Certificate in Animal Care Attendance Part-time Day and Evening Duration 5 Months Level This is a Level 2 course Times Starting 1 Feb 2010: Twelve Quays: Mon 09:00-16:00, Tue 09:00-17:00, Wed 09:00-16:10 It is planned to offer this course in the academic year 2010/11. Profile This course has a balance of practical and theoretical studies. You can develop your communication, information technology and number power to Key Skills level 2. This BTEC course consists of a number of modules such as Animal care Animal health Work experience Introduction to biology Breeds and grooming Industry and organisations Habitat management Practical handling and maintenance The development of Key Skills in Communication, ICT and Application of Number Additional Information Funding LSC Remission Available Qualifications Offered (in next Class) BTEC First Certificate in Animal Care Funding Stream: 22 - Learner Responsive Fees: Tuition: ?275.00, Registration: ?70.00, Materials: ?30.00 Please Note: These are current course fees. Opportunities You could find empolyment within veterinary practices, animal welfare and rescue, boarding kennels and catteries, pet stores or grooming parlours or progress onto a BTEC Level 3 course such National Award or National Certificate in a related subject area.. Entry Requirement Entry to the course is subject to interview and ideally you will have one of the following: 4 GCSEs at grades D-G (to include Science, Maths and English) Other level 1 related qualifications Basic communication, literacy and numeracy skills at level 1 are normally required. Information Technology - Basic computer skills would be an advantage but are not essential as good training is provided. Mature learners will be redirected to the Pre-Access Science course which is based on the same qualification. Before starting your course, you will take assessments in literacy and numeracy to make sure that you are working at the right level.
