Part Time Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 3 (general route) General Beauty Route How & what will I learn? Ensure your own actions reduce risk to health and safety. Promote additional products or services to clients. Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business. Epilate the hair follicle using diathermy, galvanic and blend techniques Provide head and body massage treatments Improve body condition using electro-therapy Improve facial conditions using electro-therapy Enhance the appearance of natural nails using artificial nail systems Key Skills Qualification All learners will be expected to achieve additional Key Skills Qualifications including: Application of Number, Communications and IT. Induction At the beginning of the September term, the Induction programme is held. This could include subject tasters, Library induction and the issuing of relevant paperwork. It will also provide the opportunity for individual time tabling. Tutorial Programme The tutorial programme is mandatory and supports students throughout their studies. It is also a time when guest speakers visit. How long does the course last? The course lasts for 34 weeks. The total Guided learning hours are 450. Will I have to take an exam? The programme is based on continual assessment and you will be assessed through observation of practical skills, oral questioning, assignment work, written questions, tests, portfolio building, personal tutorials and key skills. The assessments will take place when you feel ready, although we do encourage assessments if we feel you have reached the necessary level of competence. What qualification will I gain? If you have been successful you will receive your Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 3. As an integral part of your course you will have the opportunity to use your work to achieve nationally recognised Key Skills qualifications in Literacy, Numeracy and IT. Progression on completion & career opportunities On completion learners can work in industry e.g. television, theatre work, cruise ships, health farms and spas. Learners may also pursue a career in teaching and training, salon management or choose to specialise in a specific area. It would also be possible to apply to study a HND in Beauty Therapy or related degree. How do I apply? This course requires an interview Once you have completed your application form, return it to us using the freepost address provided on the form and we will contact you to arrange an interview. At your interview you will meet course tutors, complete an initial assessment and be advised how, if you are successful, you should enrol later in the year What are the fees? If you are aged 16-18, this course is free If you are aged 19-25 and are studying your first full Level 3 qualification, this course would be free. Please contact us for more details. If you are aged between 16 and 19, you can apply for EMA and receive up to ?30 a week. If you are aged over 19, you can apply for an Adult Learning Grant and receive up to ?30 a week.
