Architecture, Civil Engineering and Surveying National Award Dates: 22 Sep 09 - June 2011 / 60 wks Times: 9.00 a.m. - 2.45 p.m. Day: Thursday (Yr 1), TBA (Yr 2) Venue: Cranford Avenue Aim of Course A BTEC National Award is a practical, work-related course. This course is for those interested in a career in Professional Design, Administration or the Supervisory side of the Building Industry, including Civil Engineerng, Architecture, Surveying, Estate Mangement, Quantity Surveying and Building Surveying. A BTEC National Award qualification is directly equivalent to one full A Level. Entry Requirements Course Details/Contents The course is made up of 6 units, 3 in Year 1 and 3 in Year 2 Year 1 Construction and Environment Maths Graphical Detailing Year 2 TBC Materials/Text Book Requirements You will be advised to purchase a textbook for the course. Essential drawing equipment can be purchased through the college at a substantial discount. Study Requirements One day a week, with assignments within units completed out of College. Assessment/Examination Details Assessment is continuous throughout the course and in addition there are a number of externally set and assesed assignments. Career Opportunities/Progression On successful completion of this course you can progress on to the BTEC National Diploma in Architecture, Civil Engineering and Surveying and employment in the industry. If you are in any doubt as to your status please ask for advice on enrolment. Refund of fees will only be paid in the event the College cancels the course, or if you notify the College of your intention to withdraw from the course 2 weeks prior to the start date. Please note this is a two-year course and arrangements to pay all fees shown in both Year 1 and Year 2 MUST be made at the time of enrolment. This can be done by completing a direct debit or instalment plan arrangement. If for any reason you do not continue with Year 2 of the course, the arrangement for payment of fees for Year 2 will be cancelled. NB Fees shown as additional costs after enroment are payable to the department, and will not be included in this arrangement. Fee Reductions If you are in receipt of an income based qualifying benefit, you may be entitled to a fee reduction on tuition fees only. All other charges as shown above will need to be paid in full. Please remember to bring evidence of entitlement with you when you come to enrol. Rehabilitation of Offenders Please note, to help us look after students and assess risks, you will be asked to declare any unspent criminal convictions when you apply to do a course at Weymouth College. How to Apply and Additional Information You can apply to enrol: By calling in to the Reception/Information Centre situated in Fleet Building at any time. Times of Opening are: 8.15am-8.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.15am-5pm on Fridays. During half terms, Christmas, Easter and Summer breaks, opening times are 8.30am -5.00pm Monday to Friday. Please note Courses are operated on a minimum number of students and may, on rare occasions, be subject to cancellation. In the event of cancellation any fees paid will be refunded in full.
