Aerospace HNC EDEXCEL Course Level: Higher level - Higher Education standard Reference Number: QET4BA01/CCP1 Introduction This course is for those students wanting to progress into engineering or gain professional recognition both within and outside their company. Similarly, this course is suitable for students wanting to progress to an HND, a degree, or eventual Incorporated Engineer status. Students must have the ability to self motivate and a willingness to learn new skills and techniques. What will be covered in the course? To gain this qualification, 10 units must be completed (a further six units will give you an HND qualification). The core consists of five units: *Business management techniques *Analytical methods for engineers *Engineering science *Project *Aircraft system principles Five further units are selected from a list which includes: *Engineering design *Materials engineering *Introduction to aerodynamics *Further aerodynamics *Aircraft structural integrity *Aircraft propulsion technology *Further analytical methods for engineers *Gas turbine-automatic flight control *Quality assurance and management. Each unit is broken down into four independent modules, which are assessed by assignment. A day release programme would study five units per year. How is the course assessed? All modules are assessed by assignment. One of the compulsory units is project based which may be individual, team, college or work based. Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands. It is possible to convert this qualification to an HND by completing six more units (a total of 16 units), Foundation Degree, or to gain entrance to the second year, of a three year degree. Professional incorporation by the completion of bridging studies and a professional interview is also possible. Entry Requirement A BTEC National Qualification At least one A level in an appropriate subject An NVQ Level 3 Qualification Appropriate industrial or life experiences.
