OCNW Level 2 Safe Handling of Medicines Level: 2 Awarding Body: STUDENT PROFILE This programme is designed for people who wish to gain an understanding of principles and practice of Safe Handling of Medicines in a care environment. No prior knowledge is required. COURSE OUTLINE The course consists of the modules listed below: * 1: Ordering of Medicines * 2: Storage of Medicines * 3: Administration of Medicines * 4: Self Administration of Medicines * 5: Homely Remedies * 6: How Oral Medicines Work * 7: Refusal of Medicines * 8: Controlled Drugs * 9: Common Side Effects from Medicines in the Older Service User * 10: Errors Associated with the Administration of Medicine * 11: Oxygen Therapy in a Care Home * 12: Disposal of Medicines Confidentiality * 13: Confidentiality * 14: Competency in Clinical Practce DURATION Students may study over any timescale of up to one year. To complete the course will take in the region of 60 hours of study. ASSESSMENT This course is assessed through a series of tutor marked assignments plus a final multi-choice end test. No attendance at an exams centre is required. ACCREDITATION The course is accredited at level 2 by OCNW, a leading awarding body recognised by the UK Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.
