Course Description

Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) This NVQ is designed to reflect the work of candidates who undertake Health and Social Care activities at Level 3 working with service userscarers. The aim of this qualification is to recognise the skills and competencies of candidates in the workplace. The qualification is about the delivery of physical, emotional or enabling care to clientsservice users. The candidate will usually be delivering care in support of, and under the direction of, a colleague who is accountable in the area of practice. Candidates may often be working without direct supervision or on their own, such as in a clientsservice users own home. Candidates will have a degree of responsibility and autonomy, and will be required to make decisions within boundaries and limits agreed with their team. The candidate would be expected to seek support, advice or assistance if they are unclear about what to do or if unusual or untoward situations arise (such as significant deterioration in the clientsservice users condition). This NVQ will allow for progression to and from OCR?s existing portfolio of Health and Social Care qualifications and will complement other vocational qualifications. Unit 0032 Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment Unit 0033 Reflect on and develop your practice Unit 0034 Promote the well-being and protection of children and young people Unit 0036 Contribute to the assessment of children and young peoples? needs and the development of care plans Unit 0037 Care for and protect babies Unit 0038 Support children and young people to manage their lives Unit 0039 Support children and young people to achieve their educational potential Unit 0310 Work with children and young people to prepare them for adulthood, citizenship and independence Unit 0311 Support children and young people to develop and maintain supportive relationships Unit 0312 Support the social, emotional and identity development of children and young people Unit 0313 Work with children and young people to promote their own physical and mental health needs Unit 0314 Care for a newly born baby when the mother is unable to do so Unit 0315 Work with children and young people with additional requirements to meet their personal support.
