NVQ L2 IN HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE Next start date(s) Oct Course Location Quarles Is this course for me? The NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social care course enables you to develop specialist knowledge for use in the Health and Social Care sector. The course provides a practical work based qualification for staff already employed or volunteering in a care role. You will work towards achieving core and optional units. All of these add to the required content for the award. Your selection of units will depend on a discussion between you and an assessor about the duties within your role. It depends on whether you work in the Social Care or the Health sector. What will I study? Due to the nature of NVQ's studying is more focused on your knowledge and skills. Tutors and Assessors will provide information on the unit subject and candidates will then provide evidence of their knowledge (via training certificates, reflective statements, etc) These are the compulsory subjects: An NVQ is made up of Units, for the the NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care you need to complete 4 Core units and 2 Optional units. The core units are Communication, Health and Safety, Personal Professional Development and Adult ProtectionWell-Being. The optional units will be selected in conjunction with your provided assessor What are the entry requirements? NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care is a vocational course and therefore you need to be in employment of full-time, part-time or on a voluntary basis. If you work part-time or volunteer then a minimum of 6 hours a week is required in the workplace. You will also need to provide a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau Check) and proof of employment. What can I do next? Candidates need to contact the college's threshold department and request a part-time application form What employment does this relate to? You may then be able to find employment in the health and social sector working in a support role. How will I be assessed? All students will build a portfolio of evidence with the assistance of an assessor. It will include a variety of tasks and students are expected to complete the award in 1 academic year.
