NVQ 4: CHILDREN'S CARE LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT (CCLD) Level: 4 Location: Hall Green Campus Times: PT Duration: 1 year Are there any entry requirements? This course is ideal for all non-residential childcare services (nurseries, playgroups etc), their managersowners or their deputies and practitioners who wish to update their current skills and knowledge. Whilst there are no formal entry qualifications for this course, students who have prior knowledge and understanding of the NVQ system would benefit from this. You must be working within a childcare setting for a minimum of 12 hours in a supervisorymanagement position. You must have an interview with the course tutorassessor to be accepted onto this course. What will I study? The course will be delivered using a variety of different methods. For example, your tutor input will include individual, group work, role play and presentations during classroom sessions. Assessments will be work based and an assessment plan will be agreed individually to allow you to demonstrate your knowledge and skills. There are 4 mandatory units and 5 optional units as follows: Advanced childcare theory Working relationships in childcare Promoting children's development Managing quality in the workplace Leadership Managing finance (for non-financial managers) Training & development of staff Inclusive education Multi-agency working in childcare. You will be expected to attend college 1 day a fortnight for a total of 36 weeks, excluding school holidays. The intervening weeks will be used for assessment and home study. In addition to formal tutorassessor input days, you will need to dedicate an additional 5 hours per week for self-study and assessment work. Tutorial and assessment support skills will be available as required. What can I do after this course? On successful completion of this course you will have the opportunity to complete an NVQ 4: Management by completing additional units. It is also possible to complete an NVQ 5: Management.
