Hairdressing Course: NVQ 3 Hairdressing Code: HAI0005P Duration: 35 Weeks Location: Berwick Simply Students Start Date: 14th September 2009 Interview Required: Yes Who is the course for? Students who have completed level two hairdressing or stylists with 5 years industrial experience. Do I need any formal qualifications? Level two hairdressing or 5 years experience What will I study on the course? Health & Safety relating to Hairdressing, consultation procedures covering hair & scalp diseases and disorders, promoting products and services to clients. Create advanced cutting and colouring techniques and colour correction services. Enhance creative hairdressing skills by styling and dressing long hair and contribute to planning and implementation or promotional activities. How is the course organised? Over 35 weeks the sessions vary whether full-time or part-time. Part-time students attend one day per week covering theory sessions for three hours in the afternoon and four hours practical session in the evening. The full-time students would attend the above plus one full day of practical, one three hours session in the morning and one three hours session in the afternoon. How will my progress be assessed? There are on-line tests after each taught unit to assess knowledge and understanding practical observations carried out in the college by assessors. Can I gain any extra qualifications while on the course? Opportunity to attend the Balmain Hair Extension Programme at an added cost to the student where on completion they gain certification and equipment What final qualification will I get if I am successful? Level 3 Hairdressing What can I do after completing this course? Foundation Degree in Hairdressing, Teaching Certificate. Can I receive any financial support whilst I am studying? Financial support is available and depends on the type of qualification you are studying and whether you are a full time or a part time learner. The Education Maintainance Allowance (EMA) scheme enables eligible learners to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College, as well as bonus payments of ?100. The Adult Learning Grant (ALG) scheme enables eligible learners (aged 19 or over) to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College. College Learner Support Funds (LSF) are available and can provide financial support for eligible learners. Payments can be made towards travel to and from College, registered childcare, fee remission and help with course-related costs.
