Construction Course: NVQ 2 Steel Fixing (OSAT) Code: CON0023D Duration: 52 Weeks Location: Work Place Start Date: Flexible/Various Interview Required: Yes Who is the course for? OSAT stands for On Site Assessment and Training and is for individuals or employees of companies wishing to achieve at least a level 2 NVQ in their chosen occupation which will in turn generate a CSCS card to enable access to construction sites. To be eligible you must be at least 19 years old and have a minimum of two years practical experience. Do I need any formal qualifications? No formal qualifications are necessary for this course. What will I study on the course? Candidates will be assessed on the relevant units identified by the awarding body, to gain a full NVQ qualification. This will be done in the workplace. How is the course organised? The course runs throughout the year so you can join at a time that is both convenient to yourself and your employer. For more information contact your OSAT advisor. Your OSAT advisor will also give you details of any financial support that may be available. How will my progress be assessed? You will collect and build evidence for your work based portfolio you will also be assessed on site carrying out practical activities relating to your work and you will receive guidance and support relating to your progress throughout the qualification process. Can I gain any extra qualifications while on the course? What final qualification will I get if I am successful? You will achieve a National Vocational Qualification (at least level 2) in your chosen occupation. What can I do after completing this course? If you have the necessary background and experience you can step up to the next level for your occupation. Or you can study An Abrasive Wheel Certificate, also A Manual Handling Certificate. Others on request. Can I receive any financial support whilst I am studying? Financial support is available and depends on the type of qualification you are studying and whether you are a full time or a part time learner. The Education Maintainance Allowance (EMA) scheme enables eligible learners to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College, as well as bonus payments of ?100. The Adult Learning Grant (ALG) scheme enables eligible learners (aged 19 or over) to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College. College Learner Support Funds (LSF) are available and can provide financial support for eligible learners. Payments can be made towards travel to and from College, registered childcare, fee remission and help with course-related costs.
