NVQ 2 in Barbering NVQ 2 in Barbering Venue Knightstone Campus National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are qualifications that assess your ability to work to occupational standards. Once you have completed the NVQ you can be sure that employers will understand and value your qualification. You will need to complete nine units, six core units and three optional units selected by the College. The topics you will study include: ? Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety ? Give clients a positive impression of yourself and organisation ? Advise and consult with clients ? Cut hair using basic barbering techniques ? Cut facial hair to shape using basic techniques ? Shampooing and conditioning hair ? Colouring hair ? Promoting additional products ? Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work ? Dry hair to shape to create finished looks for men. How will I be assessed? Assessments are carried out through practical skills tests, online testing, observations while you are working and completed assignments and projects. You will be able to test your practical skills and knowledge in our commercial salons. AT A GLANCE Duration 1 Year Level Level 2 Progression On successful completion you may: Progress to a Level 2 qualification in ladies hairdressing or an Advanced Apprenticeship in Barbering. Or Progress to a Level 3 Specialist Diploma in Hair and Beauty. Or Continue your exciting and rewarding career, for example as a Barber. This course is equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C.
