Course Description

Content: The course, delivered as both theoretical and practical example, can cover a wide range of subjects starting with Health & Safety, electrical theory and the generation of electricity through to the design, drawing and wiring of complex control circuits incorporating PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and robot control. Throughout the training participants are encouraged to produce written and illustrated log books of the work. NB: at all times during training, safety is paramount. Objectives: On completion of the course participants will be able to: ? operate a wide range of test equipment ? safely isolate and reconnect electrical supplies (up to 415VAC) ? interpret electrical drawings and symbols ? recognise and wire in a wide range of electrical components (switch gear/control gear) ? lay out and assemble a control panel suite ? design simple and complex control circuits ? install/replace electric motors ? wire an electric motor speed control device ? use a range of monitoring devices (sensors/ transducers) for feedback control ? apply fault finding and diagnostic techniques Prerequisites: Due to the theoretical content, pre-testing of participants, for suitability, is recommended. Participants: Mechanical Maintenance personnel required to work as part of a multi-skilled maintenance team. Duration: Customer requirement dependant.
