Course Description

This award is designed for all those facilitating the learning of others in healthcare. We aim to help teachers reflect on their personal teaching practice to identify areas of excellence and areas for development. The award draws heavily on your personal experience we follow a reflective, developmental model. Part of the assessment process will be direct observation of your teaching, in a real life situation, by expert assessors from the University. There is scope within the award for you to carry out independent study in areas that are of interest to you. The course offers three levels with stepping off points. At postgraduate certificate level you will examine and practice your teaching skills, deepen your knowledge of the underpinning theory of education and be assessed on your teaching in your workplace. At Postgraduate Diploma level study will develop skills of critical appraisal of educational research and provide an opportunity for you to further consider creating and supporting learning environments in a way that is relevant to your specific practice. At Masters level you will have the opportunity to deepen your understanding of the area through your researchfor your dissertation. Examples of modules include: Introduction to Educational Theory Assessment, Appraisal and Evaluation Observation and Reflection on Healthcare Education Creating and Supporting a Learning Environment
