Course Description

Our MSc programme is designed to enable health care practitioners from a range of backgrounds to develop their knowledge in areas of health care practice. We offer three core modules that address the issues relevant to advancing practice using evidence based approach and provide an opportunity for students to develop the skills required to conduct an empirical study or review the literature systematically in pre protocol work. Students are then able to access a range of optional modules offered from within the Centre of Advanced Studies in Nursing such as pain, palliative care or managing change. Or students can access other modules from within the University such as health economics or statistics. The standard version of the programme consists of 3 core modules plus 60 credits from optional modules and a 60-credit research thesis. Students can exit after 3 modules with a Postgraduate Certificate or after all the taught modules with a Postgraduate Diploma. The modified programme consists of the 3 core modules plus a 120-credit thesis. Course modules are multidisciplinary and are shared by students undertaking MSc in Primary Care and health service staff taking individual modules. There are a number of bursaries available for entry into the College of Life Sciences & Medicine for September.
