Course Description

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE: Three 30% scholarships based on merit will be awarded for the MSc Marketing and MSc Retail Management programmes in SEPTEMBER 2011. Since then it has developed in international reputation for the excellence of its teaching environment and the learning outcomes it achieves. Over the years, it has attracted students from all corners of the globe. The MSc in Marketing is a broadly based career entry programme. Its overall aim is to provide a learning context which stimulates a high level of knowledge sharing and understanding of the core concepts and systems underlying marketing processes and practice, and to equip students with the necessary critical thinking skills for a professional career in marketing, where teamworking and leadership are crucial. More specifically, the overall aims are to: * Encourage a critical understanding of the place of markets and marketing processes and systems in contemporary society * Nurture an appreciation of the wider role of marketing knowledge and related value systems in society * Provide a learnign context which seeds skills in bringing marketing principles and state of the art knowledge of our understanding of contemporary economic, social and cultural issues * Develop independent and reflective learning capabilities * Nurture personal development and professional employability skills that are transferable across occupations * Enhance leadership and interpersonal skills related to the specification of knowledge management problems, including data generation, analysis, presentation and dissemination. The MSc Marketing is a 12-month programme. It consists of two 15-week semestes of taught modules, plus a further three-month period of team project work. Following the introductory orientation event, the programme is structured around developing three sets of skills: * Personal and professional skills * Skills in knowledge management * Application skills in specialist options.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of a second class Honours degree (2.1 preferred) or equivalent. Applicants without these formal qualifications but with significant appropriate/relevant work/life experience are encouraged to apply.
