Course Description

MSc Natural Environment and Society Attendance This course is taught jointly by Writtle and Essex and delivered at both sites. About the Course With its broad curriculum encompassing aspects of Economics, Law, Politics and Society as they pertain to Environmental matters, this course focuses strongly on situating its core concerns in their wider context. Course Aims To introduce students to the complex nature of environmental problems and to provide them with multi-disciplinary tools of analysis in relation to those problems. To develop students' understanding of the fundamental concepts of conservation management and environmental science, and enhance their critical ability to integrate cross-disciplinary analyses of environmental problems. To evaluate critically complex scientific and policy-based issues involved in the conservation management of species and ecosystems To encourage students to develop the environmental, scientific and policy knowledge necessary for a career in environmental sciences/conservation management in the academic, voluntary, public and private sectors. To enable students to conduct research in the development or application of environmental science. To encourage students to develop a range of transferable skills including numeracy, IT skills, presentation skills, problem solving, and information retrieval.
