Course Description

The programme aims to enhance awareness and understanding of modern molecular biology concepts and techniques including genomics, proteomics, cell signalling and bioinformatics, and to enable students to acquire key laboratory skills in genomics research. We are now in a post-genomics era which promises to provide the main platform for reasearch leading to the next generation of fundamental advances in biological science, and to the delivery of novel applications across the spectrum from crop production to human health. The programme will be underpinned by an independent research project which represents one third of the MSc. The course is especially suited to biologists and biomedical scientists wishing to extend their expertise in this area, or to enhance and update existing experience. A successful outcome should enhance your opportunities to apply for a range of scientific positions within the expanding molecular biotechnology sector andor move into an appropriate PhD programme.
