Course Description

The MSc Climate Change Impacts and Feedbacks focuses on the science of climate change and the associated impacts on natural and human systems and their feedbacks to climate change through the global carbon cycle. It is perfect for graduates of the natural sciences or those currently working in science-related positions in government, NGO, charity or private sector organisations. With the opportunity of a work placement in conjunction with the dissertation, graduates of the programme can expect to gain employment in a range of organisations and businesses that have an interest in the science and policy options for climate change mitigation and adaptation. You will develop your understanding of current themes in climate change science, key data sets and research skills in climate change impacts and feedbacks. Option modules offer you the opportunity to further explore particular areas in climate change science as well as cultural and societal responses to climate change. The programme is built on international excellence in key areas of climate change science based in the Landscape and Ecosystem Dynamics and Environmental Change Research Groups. Staff and postgraduates are also part of the University?s interdisciplinary Climate Change and Sustainable Futures initiative one of five science themes receiving an investment of ?80 million which are tackling some of the biggest global problems of the 21st century. The MSc Climate Change Impacts and Feedbacks differs from the MRes of the same title in having a larger taught component.
