Course Description

The hospitality industry is one of the world?s fastest growing and most dynamic industries. The industry is worth over ?55 billion per year in the UK alone and over one in ten people in the UK are currently employed in the hospitality and related industries. There are a range of exciting careers open to qualified graduates and postgraduates in a variety of sectors including licensed retail, conferences and events, entertainment and leisure, food service management, hotel management, restaurant management, and travel and tourism. The programme provides an overview of the hospitality industry and the principles of strategic management. In addition to specialist studies in the management of hospitality, you will study key strategic management and business topics in areas such as finance, marketing, and e-business. The Managing Food and Beverage Project provides you with an opportunity to work in a group on the planning, design and delivery of a real hospitality event. MSc students will complete a 16,000 word dissertation ? a self-initiated and self-motivated investigation into a current issue within the field. The full-time course is taught over two full days per week and the part-time course is taught over one full day per week.
