Course Description

AIMS This programme aims to equip you with the theoretical knowledge and practical experience to embark on a career as a design or development engineer in the field of communications and signal processing, and to develop transferable skills in research and knowledge acquisition. PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION You take three compulsory modules (45 credits), two optional modules (30 credits), four course work based modules (45 credits) and an individual project with dissertation (60 credits). Compulsory modules cover: signal processing and estimation advanced modulation and coding techniques and mobile and cellular communications. Optional modules may include: RF engineering wired and wireless network technologies advanced multimedia systems advanced VLSI design and biometrics and recognition. Course work-based modules cover: simulation of wireless communications implementation of wireless receiver algorithms sensor network group project and reconfigurable hardware design. Assessment is by written examination at the end of each semester, course work, and a dissertation based on a project conducted in association with industry or one of the research groups.
