Course Description

Ideal for recent graduates and those in civil engineering practice, this course will enable you to develop your knowledge and understanding of a range of disciplines within civil engineering. Students will build upon their knowledge of engineering principles and learn to apply them to a range of complex civil engineering and geotechnical problems. You will be taught by highly qualified civil and geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists, and will be supported by current industrial and research work. The course includes opportunities for practical fieldwork. Core Units: You will typically study: ? Geotechnology ? General Management in Construction ? Construction Materials Engineering ? Ground Engineering ? Research Methods ? Geotechnical Engineering Independent Project Options Units: Optional units cover areas such as contaminated land, tunnels and underground excavation, ground investigation and assessment, hydrology, rock slope stability and surface excavation. Career Progression: The course will lead to jobs in civil engineering consultancy, contracting or client organisations. It develops management skills and should be regarded as highly vocational.
