Course Description

Typical undergraduate courses in civil engineering, earth sciences and the life sciences do not supply the complete multidisciplinary package required to conduct geoenvironmental projects. This course is designed to respond to the engineering community?s concerns at the lack of these multidisciplinary skills which are necessary for the successful completion of geoenvironmental engineering projects. The course will appeal to UK graduating students from many diverse undergraduate programmes which may include, but are not restricted to, civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, geography, environmental protection and biological sciences. The course will also appeal to overseas government ministries and other public bodies (particularly those related to engineering, earth sciences and life sciences, environmental protection, industrial development, contaminated land remediation, sustainable development, environmental impact assessment, ecology, geotechnical engineering, engineering impacts of climate change, pollution impacts, solid waste management and recycling). Accreditation has been sought from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) as a 'matching section'. CURRICULUM All students take four compulsory modules, plus a choice of two modules from the list of recommended options. In addition, MRes students undertake a dissertation project. Dissertation topics will be selected by students in consultation with the course leaders. Dissertation supervisors will be selected by the course leaders. COMPULSORY MODULES * Recycling Urban Land * Waste Management and Landfill Design * Research Methodology and Techniques * Site Investigation & Risk Assessment OPTIONAL MODULES * Geographic Information Systems (GIS) * Environmental Biotechnology * Water and Waste Water Treatment Design * Environmental Impact Assessment * Air Pollution Impact Assessment How to Apply: Apply online at: https:kara.mis.strath.ac.ukpgadmissionscontrolwelcome Or download the postgraduate application form at: http:www.strath.ac.ukprospectuspostgraduateapplications Course Leader: Dr Helen Keenan See http:www.strath.ac.ukcivengpg for more details on all the courses.
