Course Description

The course is aimed at people who want a career in the motor industry or have an interest in the motor car. Students need to be able to show that they can work well in a group and on their own, have respect for all and show that they have problem solving skills Entry Requirements Students need to be at least 16 years old and have an interest in motor vehciles. GCSE's at grade D or above in Maths, English and a Science. All applicants will be invited for interview to determine their suitability for the course. Course Content This course offers an introduction to routine servicing, using up-to-date vehicles and rigs, interpreting technical information, repair, replacement and manual skills and health, safety and welfare int he working environment. There are a range of learning options to suit students' needs and abilities:?Health and Safety?Engine systems?Chassis systems?Transmission systems?Electrical systems All students will need to supply boot, overalls, and two text books;these will be shown to you on induction. This is a one-year course where students attend for two days a week. How will I be assessed? Students complete four on-line exams and a number of practical tasks along with basic/key skills to a level one standard. What can I do next? This qualification will allow students opportunities for employment within the motor vehicle service industry or further progression to Level 2or work based learning courses. Successful students could also seek employment as a garage apprentice, parts apprentice or basic fitting in an exhaust/type centre. Additional costs Please Enquire
