Course Description

Content: To build upon the electronics Module 1 and improve understanding of the principles of operation, recognition and use of further types of semiconductors and test equipment in electronic control circuits. Objectives: On completion of the course participants will be able to: ? describe the operation of the following types of semiconductors the bi-polar, unijunction and field effect transistors, the operation amplifier in simple form, the thyristor, triac and diac ? use an oscilloscope and function generator as test and measuring instruments ? recognise a range of components in typical circuits by the circuit diagram symbol and state the value and how they function in a circuit ? construct individual power supply, pulse forming, waveform generating, amplification and oscillatory circuits ? use the test equipment correctly in the above circuits to measure voltage and current levels and to display and measure waveforms at various circuit points ? calculate voltage levels, amplifier gains and bias points in circuits constructed on the course Prerequisites: Electronic Module 1 or equivalent knowledge Participants: Open Duration: 5 days
