Course Description

This is a professionally-focused practice-based master’s degree in music production for aspirant career producers within contemporary music. The 12-month programme aims to develop a specialist understanding of advanced music production tools, techniques and processes through the creation of a significant body of original work that demonstrates a distinctive artistic personality.

What you will do

In the autumn term, students will take two 30-credit modules, including:

  • Production Casting, Recording and Management

and one of:

  • Song Writing
  • Composition for Film & Other Media

In the winter term, students will take the following two core 30-credit modules:

  • Digital Distribution & Marketing
  • Post-Production Mixing & Mastering

During the summer term, students take their 60-credit Major Project module.

Entry Requirements

Entry via second class honours degree in a music or closely related discipline from a UK awarding body, or a College-recognised equivalent international qualification or equivalent professional experience;

plus English language competency equivalent to CEFR Level C1 (7.0 overall, 6.5 in each category) if from a non majority English language speaking country;

As PG Cert curriculum varies according to modules taken, applicants will be assessed for entry in the context of their declared module choices.

Entry will also be subject to portfolio review.
