How to use each question as an opportunity to sell yourself. How to deliver your answers in a natural manner. Important interview techniques to answer all medical school interview questions. Other important issues such as body language, what questions to ask at the end. The course covers all aspects of medical school interviews , including questions on Personal statement, work experience and motivation Generic skills (communication, team playing, leadership, initiative, stress, etc) NHS issues & hot topics Medical ethics and ethical scenarios Lateral thinking questions Structure of the Course 9:00 REGISTRATION & REFRESHMENTS A chance for candidates who arrive early to discuss any to discuss their application and personal issues with the trainer and other candidates. 9:30 PRESENTATION & MOTIVATION QUESTIONS Learn to structure and personalise your answers to some of the key motivation questions. This first session provides candidate with a unique opportunity to practise and discuss their own answers with others and to discuss personal circumstances with our trainers. This includes questions such as: Tell me about yourself. Tell us about your work experience. Take us through your application form. Why medicine? Why this school? Why not any other profession? Why are you the best candidate? and many other questions. 11:00 GENERIC SKILLS & INTERVIEW PRACTICE Learn to answer questions relating to your interpersonal skills and how to provide meaningful examples in a way that is both structured and personal. Communication skills Team work Leadership and management Handling stress Strengths and weaknesses Studying for medicine (including types of teaching methods, pros and cons) 13:00 LUNCH 13:45 GROUP DISCUSSIONS & WORKSHOP In small groups of 5, candidates learn to understand and discuss some of the more difficult questions asked at interviews and to provide answers which are tailored what the interviewers are looking for. In most medical schools, these questions are used to identify the more mature candidates. This session equips candidates with all the tools they need. Lateral thinking questions Ethics (abortion, animal testing, euthanesia, etc) Medical ethical principles and scenarios Difficult situations (difficult consultations, difficult colleagues) 16:00 NHS - CURRENT ISSUES & POLITICS A thorough look at current issues and NHS reforms to enable candidates to discuss confidently the key topics currently addressed at interviews, including recent press coverage of fundamental issues. This session takes the form of an interactive discussion, where candidates can discuss and debate the issues raised by those hot topics and learn to provide a personal opinion in a confident manner. 17:15 BODY LANGUAGE & OTHER QUESTIONS Discussion on other ways of making a good impression at interview, including body posture, body language and dress code. 17:30 CONCLUSION & END WHO RUNS THE MEDICAL SCHOOL INTERVIEW COURSES All interview courses are run by very experienced tutors with in-depth knowledge of the medical school interview process, communication skills and NHS issues.
