Course Description

The course begins every second year, in September (2010, 2012 etc), and finishes at the end of June in the second year. Teaching follows the European week, i.e. Mondays to Fridays inclusive. This is a modular course in fixed and removable prosthodontics and is suitable for dentists contemplating an academic career or preparing for specialist practice. However, please note that this course is not part of the approved training programme for the MRD examination, but does provide good preparation for the MFDS. Students will attend lectures, seminars, clinical and laboratory demonstrations, and consultant clinics. Students will treat patients under supervision and carry out some of the laboratory work as advised by course tutors. More than one module may be taught concurrently and clinical work will be undertaken on regular sessions throughout the course. Provision will be made for personal study time throughout the course and students are expected to make good use of this time to prepare for the assessments and to read widely on the subject of prosthodontics. A supervised research project will be undertaken and a formal bound dissertation will be submitted by the end of the course.
