Masters Degree , Business

Course Description

Course Aims The MBA is the leading internationally recognised qualification for practising managers. This is a part-time programme designed to meet the needs of senior or potential senior managers in all sectors of employment. All the evidence indicates that British managers increasingly need comprehensive professional education and development. The MBA (part-time) Programme provides a major opportunity to help meet those needs for managers within the region. The programme has been designed not only to give participants a thorough understanding of business and management processes, but also to enable them to develop their effectiveness as practising managers. It will create many opportunities for participants and their organisations to improve performance. As a postgraduate degree, this course is demanding both in terms of entry qualifications and the rigour and workload associated with the course, so will require commitment and dedication from participants. The method of teaching is participative, enabling students to contribute from their experience and abilities as well as learn from others in the group. Special Course Features ? The course content is completely geared towards, and immediately usable in, the working environment ? Assignments and reports can be used in the workplace Course Content The MBA (part-time) enables participants to consider issues in an organisation wide or total business context. Skills in analysing business and organisational problems are emphasised, as is the ability to recognise and exploit opportunities. The development of strategies and plans for business or departmental improvement is a major theme. However, since such plans have limited use if the manager lacks the ability to implement them, the problems ? especially the human ones ? of managing change are addressed. Throughout the course interpersonal and communication skills are highlighted and developed, together with links between the course content to participants? own job roles and workplaces. Such links are particularly evident in the assessment programme through the use of job based projects and assignments. The MBA (part-time) covers all the core elements of Accounting, Marketing and Human Resource Management that you would expect in a comprehensive management development programme. The fundamental aspect of strategy development is fully addressed in the Strategic Management module. Typical Modules Include ? Accounting and Finance for Managers ? Dissertation ? Managing Operations ? Managing Strategic Change ? Marketing: Principles and Management ? Organisational Strategy ? People in Organisations ? Research Methods for Business ? The Effective Manager Career Opportunities With a sound knowledge of the theories and techniques of management and increased confidence in dealing with other management professionals, graduates? management competences will be significantly improved on completion leading to enhanced career progression opportunities.
