Course Description

Introduction This internationally recognised programme will accelerate your career development into highly paid management positions. Aimed at graduates with significant business and/or management experience, it will significantly enhance your capability to function as a senior manager within a wide range of commercial and service organisations. Completing the MBA (Finance) will develop your strategic management knowledge, competence and problem-solving ability. You will become familiar with financial, international management practice, and the development of effective business cultures and performance enhancement. Candidates are likely to be mature entrants with a minimum of three months appropriate work experience whose first degree is not in a business and management discipline therefore the curriculum must reflect a general coverage of subject areas. The course is intended to appeal to potential managers throughout the world who want to obtain a postgraduate business programme. The MBA is designed to draw upon the experience of the candidate and in recognition of the applied nature of the award the programme will emphasise an integrated and practical (professional) orientation over a theoretical approach. Full-time students take part in a comprehensive programme of organisational visits and speakers programme to enhance their understanding of management practice. Career Opportunities Previous students hold positions such as chief executive of a regional authority, business development manager for an automotive supplier, regional manager for a major building society and directors of major public service practices: nursing, housing and personnel. A number of ex-students have gone on to work in consultancy practice - for example, PricewaterhouseCoopers in Germany, and international roles in the electronics industry in the Netherlands. Facilities Our London Campus (http://www.sunderland.ac.uk/londoncampus/) is situated in the heart of Canary Wharf, London’s vibrant business district. Students are provided with state-of-the-art facilities which have benefited from a £4million investment, including a modern and practical library, IT facilities such as WiFi and a large computer suite, a relaxing students’ lounge and a Live Campus online learning portal. Cutting edge technology, expert support and a career-focused approach provide the ideal environment for you to launch your business career.
