Course Content Award: GCSE What's it all about?: The course aims to develop your knowledge and skills in mathematics. It will help you understand mathematical principles and apply them to everyday situations and to other subjects.This course is for those who feel ready to study in a more adult environment and have the self discipline and enthusiasm for their chosen subjects. Progression: Successful completion can lead to progression to AS and A2 or higher levels of education. It is also essential for entry into some vocational occupations. Entry Requirements: There are no formal entry requirements, although a diagnostic test at the start of the course will be used to assess your potential for GCSE level study. Duration: One year Course Overview What does the course involve?: The course will include: basic arithmetic - fractions, ratios and percentages in everyday life measurements - metric units applied in distance, area, volume and weight graphs - practical applications and algebraic forms geometry - calculation of angles in plane figures algebra - solution of problems using symbols and formulae trigonometry - application in triangular form statistics - calculations and presentation using charts and graphs. Please note that fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2009/10 (August 2009 - July 2010). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2010/11.
