PLEASE DISCUSS THIS WHEN YOU COME FOR INTERVIEWThe aim of this course is to provide opportunities for you to develop a range of skills and techniques that will enable you to become an ITEC qualified Massage (ITEC - International Therapy Examination Council)Please note: This course takes place on Tuesday & Wednesday evenings. You will also need to attend 6 Saturday sessions (dates to be confirmed). Entry Requirements: The entry requirement to this course is 5 GCSEs, A* - C, or equivalent, although exemptions may be made for adult returners with experience of the workplace. If English is not your first language you will need to have a very good standard of written and spoken English. You must attend 80% of the course and it is very important that you arrive promptly at the start of each class. Note: If you already have the ITEC Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology, that has been completed after 2001, you may be able to have this prior learning accredited (APL). You will need to bring a copy of the certificate with you to the first classNote: If you have Unit 22: Professional Conduct and Business Awareness or Unit 350 Health Safety and Hygiene and have copies of certificates you may be exempt from. Units: 819,613,821If you need further advice or would like to enrol please come to one of the Complementary Therapy information sessions at the Open Days: Course Content: This course includes the following ITEC unitUnit 340: Provide MassageUnit 341: Reflective Practice for MassageUnit 346: Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary TherapiesUnit 347: Knowledge of less common pathology for Complementary TherapiesUnit 348: Principles and Practice of Complementary TherapiesUnit 349: Business Practice for Complementary TherapiesUnit 350: Health, Safety and Hygiene for Complementary TherapiesAssessment Methods:. At the end of the course you work will be assessed by an ITEC Examiner. ? Practical exam assessed by an ITEC examiner. ? Coursework ?? marked by tutor and verified by an external examiner. ? Case studies and evidence treatments ?? marked by tutor and verified by an external examiner. Case Studies:. 12 case studies. Plus:. Treatment evidence:. Evidence of 18 Treatments (some of these can be done in class). Home Study:. Please note that you will be expected to do a significant amount of home study. ITEC recommend that you should spend up to 5 hours per week doing additional home study and revision during the course. ITEC also recommend that you should spend a total of 60-100 hours completing your case study portfolio. Some of your work will need to be completed on a computer. Includes 6 Saturdays of 5 hours dates TBC. Assessment Methods: Assessment is continuous throughout the year. This will take the form of written reports, oral presentations, tests and exams. You yourself will be researching much of what is needed to successfully complete these assignments, in your own time outside of the sessions by way of independent study. You must keep to deadlines for assessments, or this may impact on your ability to pass the course. Bring To First Class: Pen and Paper.
