The members of the marketing subject and research group in the Business School are highly experienced and active researchers publishing in leading academic journals. In 2008 the marketing group hosted the prestigious European Marketing Academy Conference which attracted over 650 delegates from more than 30 countries. ? These courses will enable you to develop your knowledge of marketing theory and practice for a future career in the marketing profession. ? Our teaching staff have specialist knowledge and research interest in marketing, branding and communications, international marketing and social marketing. ? We provide an environment that encourages critical thinking, analysis and the opportunity to present your ideas with clarity and realism. Professional accreditation The course team is working with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) to identify areas of the MSc which will allow students to claim full or part exemption from the professional bodies exams. Who is the course for? These courses are designed for recent graduates aspiring towards a career in marketing or graduates with management experience who wish to develop a career in marketing, advertising, branding and communications international marketing and social marketing. As an alternative to a first degree from a recognised university, people who are motivated and capable of independent learning and research at postgraduate level are also suitable candidates. Career Opportunities Businesses require graduates who can think and act independently to arrive at well thought out judgements and decisions in co-operation with others. Employers also require people who are analytical, numerate and able to interpret information, data and ideas to produce creative solutions to problems and identify market opportunities. The MSc offers the opportunity to study marketing theory and practice through specialist subjects and a research based dissertation. Branding is an integral and central element in marketing communications and represents what Keller refers to as ?the voice of a brand?. Communications are also a strategic process contributing to competitive advantage through differentiation and building brand value and equity. This pathway has been designed to allow students to specialise in the field of branding and communications. Communications refers to the integration and use of various tools such as advertising, promotion and PR to communicate with target markets. This course prepares students for a career in advertising, communications and brand management in the international market place.
