Course Description

If you work in or want to work in a role involving organisational or corporate communications, this course is for you. It develops your skills and knowledge in persuasion, strategic communication and public relations. The course content is both theoretical and practical. It reflects the diversity of issues, media and concerns of current practice in corporate communications. In some assignments, you critically examine documents produced in your professional work to develop your understanding of the theories underlying corporate document analysis. You research the complexities of communication in a corporate context to develop your ability and put your learning into practice. You gain an understanding of how to represent corporations externally and an ability to communicate in a corporate environment. Option modules allow you to develop and focus on your personal and professional interests. You can explore in greater depth topics such as ? using digital technology in corporate contexts ? corporate writing skills ? the theory and practice of persuasion ? visual communication ? news making ? information design in the production of documents. Attendance is by distance learning only. You look at internal and external corporate communication, with a focus on public relations to improve your corporate practice and understanding.
