Course Description

Managing Difficult Epilepsy Duration A 6-hour course consisting of theoretical and practical work. The practical session will involve demonstration and supervised practice of administering Diazepam rectally, using a simulator. Syllabus A wide range of subjects is covered including: Definition of epilepsy Supporting people with epilepsy Seizure presentation and manifestation Managing difficult epilepsy Administration of rectal Diazepam Certification This course is approved by Epilepsy Scotland and the course tutor is a First Level Registered Nurse. Due to the invasive nature of the practical session and the inability to assess the student's performance in a natural setting, certificates of competence cannot be awarded. However, candidates who successfully complete the course will be awarded Certificates of Attendance which will be valid for one year. Numbers A maximum of 10 students can be accommodated on this course and must be aged a minimum of 18 years or above.
