Course Description

Management Development Have you noticed how virtually everyone manages these days? Are you convinced that they?re all doing it like real leaders would? Or is it possible that some of your people are falling short at the moment? Well, you may be right and you may be wrong. Great management is not about having movie star presence or being assertive. Anyone can be an effective leader if they have the skills at their fingertips and those skills have become instinctive. When obstacles do come, as problems always will, such people will just know how to react appropriately. That kind of ability breeds confidence , which supports a positive attitude, which spreads infectiously to colleagues, which ups the energy, which overcomes problems, which gets the job done, which enlarges the capability, which allows more ambitious targets. This is a circle of virtue which can be brought vibrantly to life by upskilling your key people so they behave like naturals. We are not talking concepts and chat, here ; we are taking a hard look at performance and raising the game beyond recognition. The aim is to produce dynamic nodes of management expertise where the culture is fair but firm. Every organisation must have people who can see beyond the surface, who can audit what?s going on, who can generate a meaningful appraisal of their colleagues and who can then do something about the shortcomings. In a way, we are talking about training trainers here , though you may call them managers, leaders, mentors, rainmakers, whatever you wish? The process works at any level and enables you to build a culture that can turn everyday skills into a process of opportunity. Please ask yourself... Do we communicate well enough, so that policy is really understood and implemented? Are resentments, conflicts, issues and changes handled in a positive manner ? one that sticks? Does time slip away in useless meetings or are we making the most of every resource? Is there absolute clarity about objectives and is everyone really on board? Do we still have methods we know don?t work but haven?t got round to changing? Are the people we manage actually doing what we want as we want it? ... whether you really are managing . Are you totally getting the job done? Everyone will be tempted to answer yes to this, but actually, it can always get better
