Course Description

Content: The course is an introduction to the the guidlines and regulations for safe and efficient work in mains installation. It covers essential knowledge for those working regularly or occasionally with domestic or industrial electrical installation. Objectives: On completion of the course participants will be able to: ? Demonstrate an awareness of the dangers of electricity ? Identify current legislation relating to electrical supplies and health and safety - BS 7671, Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 ? Distinguish single from 3-phase supplies, and ring from radial supplies ? Circuit isolation procedures ? Cable size and new colour coding ? Execute safe installation procedures including fuses, junction boxes, spurs, circuit breakers, and earthing to IEE Wiring Regulations, 16th edition update ? Execute complete inspection and testing pre and post work Prerequisites: None Participants: Those working regularly or occasionally with mains electrical installations: plumbers, security systems installers and other buildings services workers Duration: 1 day
