MA Professional Voice Practice BSA is proud to offer this unique, accelerated one-year MA in Professional Voice Practice. The course will appeal to graduates and professionals who wish to significantly enhance their r?sum?s in the area of voice training, or to pursue careers as voice professionals. The course has been developed with the support of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) voice department, and text based work is at the heart of this course. The course will concentrate on an approach to working with language developed by Cicily Berry. Whilst the foundation of the course is rooted in the principles of healthy vocal use, it will not focus on a particular system or regime. The RSC will provide guest lectures and, for suitably qualified candidates, a maximum of two placements each year. The course will also incorporate work with the singing voice as the ability to work with both spoken and sung text are becoming increasingly important for the voice professional. Along with its impressive links with professional acting companies, the Birmingham School of Acting also has a working relationship with the Voice Clinic of Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. This course will increase employment options both for working actors and teachers, provide an extraordinary opportunity for career development, and offer a unique opportunity to learn from the finest team of voice professionals in the world. The one-year, accelerated format makes it an affordable option for developing professional skills. Modules include: ? practical voice ? phonetics and voice theory ? singing ? research project The final research project may be either practice or dissertation based. Employability Graduates of the course will return to careers in the performance industry or in education with significantly enhanced skills in voice practice, which will increase employment opportunites and give graduates a competitive edge in a highly competitive field. Entrance requirements You should have some previous performance training in order to come on this course. A first degree in drama, acting or performing arts, or performance experience will be required in addition to an audition and interview.
