Course Description

The taught postgraduate MA in Music offers six pathways: MA in Music (Musicology) MA in Music (Ethnomusicology) MA in Music (Composition) MA in Music (Electroacoustic Studies) MA in Music (Performance) MA in Music (Brass Band) This degree is taught either full-time (12 months) or part-time (24 months), and is assessed by a range of methods including, written, practical examinations and composition. Course requirements for the MA (Composition) are as follows: Research Methods and Resources (30 UCUs) A Composition portfolio (90 UCUs) Compositional Techniques (30 UCUs) PLUS EITHER ONE OF THE FOLLOWING a further 30 UCU postgraduate module or two 20 UCU undergraduate modules from a list provided by the Department of Music or in exceptional circumstances, one 30 UCU module from another Board of Studies
