Course Description

Many of the crucial issues and problems of our time are confronted at the global level, where policies and laws to address them are shaped in a variety of institutions. Security, human rights, the environment, trade and the economy are just some of the key areas where global politics and international law have a significant impact. This course is for graduates who already have some knowledge of law, international law or politics and wish to deepen their understanding of selected issues, or who wish to transfer into this area from related disciplines, such as history, economics or philosophy. Designed to critically investigate an exciting interdisciplinary area between law and politics, the programme is centred on the theme of internationalism. You will be encouraged to take intellectual risks and utilise the academic resources of both disciplines. The range of options available will allow you to explore your own particular concerns and interests in this area. Core modules The Politics of International Law dissertation. Optional modules From a wide choice of both legal and political subjects including: International Environmental Law International Criminal Justice Human Rights Law Law of International Organisations International Law of the Use of Force.
