Course Description

This course will enable you to advance your personal art practice and develop an understanding of the role of the professional artist within a wider social and cultural context. The course is characterised by an integrated approach to practice and theory, coupled with a recognition of the contexts of professional practice. Studying on a full-time basis over one year, you will have access to the full range of the School?s visual arts facilities in the areas of painting, print-making, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, metalwork and photography. The course is also available in part-time mode over two years. A good undergraduate degree in Fine Art is required for entry. You will also be considered if you have a similar qualification drawn from a related field, such as a BEd or joint Honours degree with a visual arts or fine art strand. Employment opportunities exist in the cultural industries and education. You may also pursue a career as a practising professional artist.
