Course Description

Working in the creative environment requires a combination fo skills and creative understanding. This innovative course is designed specifically for working professionals and those who wish to explore a cross-disciplinary approach to creative projects, update their ideas or re-focus their professional practice whilst continuing to work. Interdisciplinary creativity is significantly enhanced by the very strong network of regional, national and international links the School of Art & Design can offer. The function of the course is to enable students to understand the nature of the contemporary creative economy and to explore a role for themselves within creative practice or business. There is the opportunity to tailor the learning experience around work commitments through a part-time route. Students on this course have come from a diverse range of backgrounds including further and higher education, fashion, the music business, and production, curation and distribution of creative media. They have gone on to start businesses, upgrade their teaching roles, re-orientate their careers or find a new international direction for their work.
