Course Description

These new Masters programmes will develop the knowledge and skills acquired from undergraduate or postgraduate certificate and diploma levels of study in Business, Management and Marketing. They will also be suitable for Leisure, Tourism, Rural Resources, Horticulture, Agriculture and Equine students who have studied a significant management or rural policy component. They will allow students to consolidate, integrate and critically evaluate their experience and extend it into specialist areas aligned to their interests. The focus will draw on Writtle College?s strength as a land-based college, as well as its UK, European and international consultancy work and academic links. There will therefore be an emphasis on sustainability, business start-upincubation, small and medium sized enterprises, family businesses, rural, transitional and developing economies. However, firms operating in an urban, developed and multinational context will also be examined in the context of Marketing and Business Management. Course aims These programmes will provide students with the ability to: ? Fully appreciate the environmental, political, social and economic context of complex rural, urban and global change. ? Critically evaluate, develop and apply advanced management constructs, strategic tools and business models. ? Advocate innovative and sustainable products, services, solutions and management systems. ? Research specific issues indepth and contribute original insights and management solutions of relevance to practitioners.
