Course Description

The programme is a linked Postgraduate DiplomaMasters degree. Mechanisms are available which allow those completing the Diploma at the required level to proceed directly to the Masters degree and to those who have enrolled on the full-time programme to transfer to its part-time mode and vice versa.The programme utilises a number of teaching and learning methods. These provide students with a starting point for their own research. Students are given guidance in the selection of research strategies. Apart from traditional research materials these strategies exploit as fully as possible the availability of electronic sources. The emphasis is on autonomous learning and students concentrate on researching the law relating to a given topic.Caledonian Library and Information Centre is the main information and study centre for LL.MPostgraduate Diploma students. The law and library staff work closely to ensure that the students have sufficient access to information and develop skills to use the most up-to-date information services. The local European Documentation Centre is nearby, at Glasgow University Library.The full-time programme is split into three semesters. Semester A and Semester B each cover a period of twelve weeks teaching and three weeks examinations. Semester C is dedicated to the Dissertation. Semester A runs from September to January: Semester B from February to MayJune Semester C from mid-June to September.
