What you will study To gain the Diploma you must achieve a minimum of 37 credits, with 16 credits gained from the following mandatory units:- * Engage in personal development in health, social care or children?s and young people?s settings * Promote communication in health, social care or children?s and young people?s settings * Promote equality and inclusion in health, social care or children?s and young people?s settings * Promote and implement health and safety in health and social care * The role of the health and social care worker In addition to the core units, you will choose optional units that suit your current work role, and these will be discussed and planned with your Assessor. How you will learn The award is based on actual work-based performance. Your Assessor will work with you to plan and assess your practical work in the workplace. The bulk of your learning will therefore be in the workplace, but training and support will be provided to ensure that you are meeting the required standard. You will work on a one-to-one basis with your Assessor, whose visits will be flexible to meet your needs and the needs of your employer. How you will be assessed There are no examinations. You will be allocated an Assessor who will visit you in your workplace and observe you carrying out your daily tasks and duties. You will be required to compile a portfolio of evidence of your competence and knowledge, which your assessor will help you to prepare. Attendance Your assessor will need to meet with you regularly to monitor your progress and to plan your assessment sessions. These meetings can take place either at your workplace or on College premises.
