In this unit learners will learn about the barriers to effective communication in care settings. They will demonstrate active listening skills and both give and receive feedback when developing these skills. They will gain an understanding of the values underpinning care and what they can do to respect these values. Unit 02 Providing customer service in care setting, In this unit learners will gain an understanding of care service users' diverse needs and learn how to support their rights. They will be able to explain the principles of customer service that meet organisational standards, legislation and guidance. Unit 03 Interpersonal skills for working as a member of a care team, In this unit learners will be able to effectively communicate and function within a care team. They will also be able to identify the roles and responsibilities within the team and how to report any concerns regarding service user safety identified within the work setting. Unit 04 Working safely in care setting, In this unit learners will learn how to identify and minimise potential health and safety risks to themselves and others. They will gain an understanding of the procedures to follow in the event of an emergency as well as learning how to resolve challenging situations they may encounter. Progression Opportunities The NCFE Level 2 Certificate for Non-Care Workers in Care Settings aims to provide progression to: NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Safer Moving and Handling (including People) NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Infection NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding and Prevention of MRSA Owing to the wide range of work roles that this qualification covers, it may prove useful to those seeking progression routes within sectors such as: Building maintenance and cleaning Information technology Gardening Driving Catering Administration Security Internal Assessment Assessment is the process of measuring a candidate's skill, knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification. The NCFE Level 2 Certificate for Non-Care Workers in Care Settings is internally assessed. The candidate must produce a portfolio of work that covers all learning outcomes of the qualification. All learning outcomes within each candidate portfolio must be assessed by Assessors in the centre. A reasonable sample of portfolios must then be assessed by an Internal Moderator to ensure consistency with national standards.
